Course Description | We’ve all heard “A picture is worth a thousand words” but what is the worth a picture and a thousand words? In this seminar, we’ll explore how the practice of visual art in combination with writing can open up a world of possibilities and how experimenting with ideas in different mediums help us push through creative stagnation. We’ll investigate different traditions of art and language across cultures and time. Readings will range from graphic memoirs to prose architecture to a bird eating a letter. There’s no drawing ability required or necessary for the course, only the willingness to experiment with your own creativity as you exercise Einstein's concept of “Combinatory Play.” |
