Course Description | This class is designed to give students exercises and guided experiences in producing and marketing publishable opinion essays. In the last two decades, newspapers, magazines and websites have opened up their pages to reader contributions. This development provides an unprecedented opportunity for students and faculty to connect with the general public about policy issues—and also to their personal passions. Op-eds provide a relatively new pathway to communication and advocacy. This course aims to teach journalistic writing so that our students can gain a larger forum on matters like climate mitigation, conservation biology, green roofs, urban farming, ecologic waste disposal, environmental justice, and pandemic prevention. |
