Course Description

MIA and MPA Politics Core II. This course examines the causes of democratic erosion and the emerging challenges posed by artificial intelligence and digital technologies. Students will explore foundational theories of democracy, analyze factors such as polarization and corruption, and assess how AI, misinformation, and digital surveillance shape democratic decline. Through case studies and group projects, the course also considers strategies to strengthen democratic institutions in an age of technological disruption.
