Course Description | The private sector has been widely criticized for economic and social conditions in the United States. Income inequality, the movement of jobs overseas, the disruption caused by technology, and the wide pay disparity between CEOs and employees are all placed squarely at the feet of leaders in the private sector. A historical review shows that much of the distrust of the private sector is justified. However, a review also shows ample examples, in the past and present, of private sector leadership shaping positive societal reforms. The substance of this course will entail a review of the past with lessons learned, where we are today in areas of critical concern to the nation, and most importantly, a review of specific next steps needed in the future to achieve real progress solving our most critical economic and social problems. |
