Course Description

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the politics of modern South Asia, a large and diverse region that is home to roughly 25 percent (1.9 billion) of the world’s population. The region comprises India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and Maldives. Some regional definitions include Afghanistan in South Asia, as will this course. The course will cover issues and topics that are important to individual countries and the region as a whole.
