Course Description | This is the first 15-week course during the first term of the DPT curriculum and the first clinical courses designed to overview basic patient/client examination and evaluation skills in accordance with the International Classification of Functioning (ICF) and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Guide to Physical Therapy Practice. Introduction to the patient management model with emphasis on examination is presented in a lecture-lab format. The examination process is detailed including systems review and tests and measures of peripheral nerve integrity, flexibility, motor function, muscle performance, posture, and range of motion. Emphasis is placed on, manual muscle testing and goniometry. Students are introduced to clinical decision-making. |
