Course Description | What is the meaning of embodiment? For most of us, it seems this is a question we only confront when our bodies “break down,” “fail,” or “betray” us. In truth, however, it is a question we are answering with every intentional movement, feeling, impulse and desire of our conscious life. In this course, we will explore various approaches to embodiment from contemporary thinkers. We will ask what these approaches might tell us about the experience of illness and how they might inform our understanding of care, both of ourselves and others. |
