Course Description | This course is a broad cultural history of gender, sex, religion, and power in South Asia over the longue durée. Readings will examine these topics in early modern and modern Indian cultures and have been chosen not so much with a view toward comprehensiveness but for variety–– allowing us to explore gender and sexuality in diverse topics such as religion, literature, politics, visual culture, and historiography. |
