Global Leadership Applied Seminar I

Open to MPA in Global Leadership Students Only. This applied seminar in global leadership helps students strengthen their capacity to lead with impact, inclusivity, and strategic judgment in complex policy and organizational environments. Blending executive self-reflection with policy analysis, the course examines how leaders navigate negotiation, representation, coalition-building, conflict, institutional barriers, and competing stakeholder interests across the public, nonprofit, and international sectors. Through interactive sessions, simulations, case discussions, reflective exercises, and policy-oriented leadership challenges, students will hone their skills in communication, collaboration, adaptive leadership, and decision-making while critically analyzing how power structures, inequality, and institutional dynamics shape both access to positional leadership and leadership outcomes. The seminar emphasizes translating leadership concepts into each student’s professional and civic spheres, encouraging participants to cultivate an authentic leadership approach that advances collaboration, resilience, and inclusive change in rapidly evolving global contexts.
