| Course Description | Upon completing this course, students will have an understanding of: Why engagement with armed actors is essential for humanitarian action, and what the normative bases for such engagement are; What Civil-Military Coordination comprises, how it works, and what elements need to be integrated in an assessment and strategy; How to address the challenge of non-state armed groups and their role and obligations in the conduct of hostilities, and towards the civilians under their control; What the limits of engagement are, but also how armed actors can, at times, support humanitarian action. |
