Course Description | The course will provide an in-depth analysis of the environments in which sovereign debt decisions occur. Understanding those environments requires to study both the economics of sovereign debt and power dynamics. The course provides tools for students interested either in pursuing academic work in the field of sovereign debt, acting as practitioners, or as policymakers. The current global juncture, considering the higher global debt levels than before the Covid-19 pandemic and the expected consequences for the sustainability of debts in a number of developing and emerging economies from the contractionary monetary policies that are being adopted by central banks of advanced economies in response to the global inflation problem, makes the field even more relevant from a practical viewpoint in the near term. |
