Course Description | In this course we will explore how histories of Asian mobility and migration since the 18th century have been shaped by local, regional and global processes such as commerce, capitalism, imperialism, colonialism, liberalism, racism, revolution, war, patriarchy and geopolitics, as well as by the agency of migrants themselves. The geographical scope of the course covers East, Southeast and South Asia, Pacific islands such as Hawai’i and Guam, plus destination countries such as the United States, Australia, Peru, and South Africa. |
