| Course Description | The purpose of this course is to introduce students to applied health services research. Specifically, students will be exposed to real world problems faced by health services researchers and learn how to address these problems. The course will have two major focuses. First, students will be exposed to the basic analytic and biostatistical concepts utilized in health services research. Much of this work is directed at addressing bias and confounding in study design and application. Second, students will be grounded in applied health services research. Specifically, topics addressed will include common problems in health services research across a variety of disciplines, methods to address these problems, and an exploration of policy initiatives that have resulted from health services research. The course will consider a variety of study designs, methodological approaches and concepts that are germane to health services researchers. Further, during the course students will be tasked to implement these concepts in the conduct of a team-oriented project. |
