Course Description | Due to technology and globalization, current problems we face in health systems research are more complex and require new techniques to assess them. This course will examine why health systems research requires multiple methods. Students will formulate a good research question, evaluate which method(s) could study this question, and provide recommendations to address the question. Class sessions will be interactive and provide opportunities to engage with various approaches to problem solve. The class complements the foundational quantitative methods learned to date with qualitative and mixed methods. Some topics will include interviewing, text analysis, and case studies. The strengths and weaknesses of various methodologies will be considered. |
