Course Description | The goal of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Delivery Systems is to provide students with an understanding of the continuum of post-acute and long-term care. Three perspectives or approaches are used to describe and discuss the structure and function of the continuum of care. First, the continuum is examined as a “system” - that is, a cluster of interrelated components. Next, the continuum is explored from the point of view of public policy - that is, from the perspective of various courses of action open to government to address the financial and care delivery challenges that are present in the continuum and that exists for stakeholders and consumers. Finally, the continuum is analyzed as a market for providers of health care, social services and housing to an expanding population of individuals with chronic care needs. |
