Course Description | This course will take an in depth look at hospital finances using data from the New York area. Students will develop technical skills, learn hospital operations, and be asked to examine how structures created to optimize finance affects access to services for disparate patients across varying services. Students will develop technical skills by creating their own excel models. Assignments will include budget and staffing models; financial plan projections; and cash-flow forecasts. Students will also be asked to participate in a course long group research project that evaluates the nexus between healthcare reimbursement policy and access to services. |
