Course Description | Over the course of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, millions of Jews uprooted themselves from their places of birth and settled in new homes around the world. This mass migration not only transformed the cultural and demographic centers of world Jewry, but also fundamentally changed the way in which state’s organized their immigration regimes. In this course, we shall analyze the historiography in migration studies, state formation and Jewish history to make sense of the different factors shaping Jewish immigrants’ experiences in different parts of the world. |
