Course Description | This course covers all aspects of British history – political, imperial, economic, social and cultural – during the century of Britain’s greatest global power. Particular attention will be paid to the emergence of liberalism as a political and economic system and as a means of governing personal and social life. Students will read materials from the time, as well as scholarly articles, and will learn to work with some of the rich primary materials available on this period.
