| Course Description | This course examines how globalization and the global success of American blockbuster films have affected Hollywood film production, stardom, distribution, and exhibition. The course will analyze blockbuster aesthetics, including aspects of special effects, 3-D, VR, IMAX, sound, narration, genre, editing, and AI. The course will also explore the effects of new digital technologies on Hollywood and the cross-pollination among Hollywood, art house, and other national cinemas. Finally, the course will examine the effects of 9/11, the “war on terrorism,” climate change, Covid, AI, and other global concerns on marketing, aesthetics, distribution, franchise, and other aspects of this cinema. |
