Course Description | John Keats (1795–1821) is one of the most beloved of all English writers, a poet of intense sensitivity, imagination, and generosity. In this class we will read work from across Keats’s brief, meteoric career, devoting significant attention to his early poems as well as to the pieces from his 1820 Poems for which he is best known. We will also read a large selection of Keats’s letters, as well as poems, letters, and reviews by Keats’s contemporaries, in addition to a sampling of modern criticism. |
