Short Catalog Description:
Course focuses on understanding how the Environment Impacts Human Health.  Air quality and water quality from both natural and anthropogenic sources can have a wide array of adverse health effects.  We will examine a wide array of contaminants, their health effects, and potential solutions. 

Course Description:
This course focuses on understanding how the Environment Impacts Human Health.  Air quality and water quality from both natural and anthropogenic sources can have a wide array of adverse health effects.  We will examine a wide array of contaminants, their health effects, and potential solutions. 

The first part of the class will focus on examining indoor and outdoor air quality and how it impacts human health.  It will include both particulate and chemical contaminants also include the effect of climate change.    

The second part will focus on water and its impact on health.  This will include both drinking water and wastewater.  We will learn about all types of water contaminants including: anthropogenic, geogenic, and microbial.

The final part will focus on lead and human health and include its history along with current issues facing communities using Flint, Michigan as a case study.
