Course Description | The Core AI Studio explores how artificial intelligence might enhance rather than undermine humanistic education. It combines the collaborative, creative methodology of art and architecture studios with rigorous engagement with seminal works from Columbia's Core Curriculum. As an elective course for students enrolled in a section of Contemporary Civilization, it provides new ways to explore classic questions through experiential learning. AI provides a toolbox, but it is also a technology that provokes us to reconsider what is it to be human. Students will work individually and in small groups, experimenting with methods for using AI to uncover and test assumptions, analyze tensions, and engage with difficult questions that resist algorithmic solutions. |
