Course Description | Chemical engineering fundamentals as applied to process research, development, and manufacturing of pharmaceutical products. Course topics include: comprehensive overview of the biopharmaceutical business (therapeutic areas, markets, drug discovery, clinical development, commercialization), process research, creation, development, optimization, sustainability, green chemistry and engineering, safety (patient, process, and personnel), unit operations and associated calculations relevant to pharmaceutical processes, process scale-up, implementation, assessment, technology transfer, new technologies, economic analysis, drug product formulation and manufacturing, and regulatory considerations. Case studies and real-life examples are presented throughout the course. |
