Course Description | This course provides an overview of the role of computation across astronomy and astrophysics. The first half will be an introduction to the numerical techniques that allow us to model the laws of physics on computers and hence build simulations of physical systems. The second half will review the data analysis tools used to mine large data sets (real or simulated) to find, characterize and interpret the features in them. This course will alternate on a weekly basis between lectures and lab applications (i.e each week has a lecture and lab component). |
