Course Description | This seminar will examine some of the distinctive questions that emerge around sculpture as a medium in the period from ca. 1400-1700. Discussions will focus on the conception of individual objects, on relevant art theory from the period, and on major contributions to the modern literature. Although much of the course material will be Italian, participants are welcome to pursue research projects on any connected tradition. |
